Possible Good News for Buckhead Commercial Market

Greenberg Traurig, LLP, a law firm with 1750 attorneys and over thirty offices worldwide, is seeking to move from its current space at The Forum in west Buckhead. The firm is considering signing a lease for 125,000 square feet in the Terminus 200 office building that is owned and operated by Cousin’s Properties, Inc. The parties are still in negotiations and thus the move would not occur for a while as Greenberg still has approximately two years remaining on its current lease.

Saskatoon Opening in Buckhead

Buckhead will have a new restaurant in December or January. Saskatoon, a Greenville, South Carolina based chain, executed a lease for 6,800 square feet at 360 Pharr Road. The restaurant will have a capacity of around 200 and will serve steaks, seafood and for the more adventurous diners, wild game including venison, ostrich and even elk.

Buckhead To Be Promoted Nationally in Wall Street Journal

The Buckhead Coalition, a civic group operated by neighborhood business leaders, has launched a campaign to run large ads in the Wall Street Journal. The ads are designed to promote Buckhead’s condos, buildings and retail space in an effort to help fill the empty space caused by the economic downturn. We currently have over two million square feet of surplus new office space in addition to around one thousand available condos. The space is available at extremely affordable prices which makes it an excellent time for a move.

Town Brookhaven Development

I drove by the Town/Brookhaven development this morning and the signs indicate that they are now leasing apartments. Yahoo! I guess it will be open and completed well before the Streets of Buckhead. For those who don’t know about the development I have copied and pasted a description from the developer’s website below:

TOWN/Brookhaven is a state-of-the-art mixed-use development in Atlanta’s Brookhaven community, conveniently situated on Peachtree Road, north of Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza and adjacent to historic Oglethorpe University.

The project will consist of approximately 600,000 square feet of big box retail, Jr. anchors, restaurants and boutiques, as well as more than 1,500 residential units. This remarkable center Sembler is creating is an innovative, intensely landscaped, pedestrian-friendly urban village, built for convenience and accessibility.

That’s exciting news that it is getting closer. Hopefully it will eventually have a feel more like that of Atlantic Station than that of some of more suburban developments that have no real personality.
