This made him the owner of two-thirds of the stock outright, plus he jointly owned the remaining third with Walker and Joseph Jacobs.  In 1891, Candler would buy out the Jacobs to become the sole owner.

On this date in 2004, former Atlanta mayor Bill Campbell was formally indicted for financial impropriety.
