Free Pancake Reminder

In case you forgot, tomorrow is the day to get your free pancakes at any local IHOP. Please see the prior post below that provides more details, so go visit IHOP tomorrow for a good meal and a good cause!

Hey Buckhead, in honor of National Pancake Day and to help raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network, the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) will be giving away a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes to all patrons on February 23. All 1,400 IHOPs nationwide, including 50 in the Atlanta metro area, will be participating. In return for the pancakes, guests will be asked to make a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Another Buckhead Restaurant Closes

Unfortunately, Buckhead has lost another restaurant. Aquanox, a steak and seafood restaurant has officially closed. It was located in the Terminus building at the corner of Peachtree and Piedmont. On bright side, let’s look forward to another restaurant taking its place in the near future.

Will Intown Condo Values be Reset at Much Lower Prices

In a blog article posted yesterday on the Atlanta Business Chronicle website, Doug Sams stated that Starwood Capital Group’s recent purchase of the foreclosed Brookwood condo tower in Buckhead will likely result in a resetting of intown condo prices at a much lower amount. The sale price was approximately 35 to 40% of the original loan amount and as there are numerous other condo towers in financial trouble as well we could see a drastic drop in condo prices if more foreclosures occur.

New Buckhead Bar and Restaurant

Buckhead has a new bar and restaurant. Tavern 99, which is located at 128 East Andrews Drive, Atlanta, GA 30305, is open for business. A casual place, Tavern has a large patio with frequent live music. Come on out and enjoy one of the 27 beers on tap.

New Buckhead Restaurant

Shula’s 347 Grill opened for business this week in the Atlanta Mariott Buckhead on Lenox Road across from Lenox Mall. The restaurant is named after legendary football coach Don Shula and his NFL leading 347 career victories. The atmosphere is casual but the food is seriously good. They serve everything from premium Angus beef steaks and burgers, to just off the boat fresh fish to gourmet salads. The bar is a great place for socializing or to catch a game. Buckhead Community Bank and Two Others Fail

Just as there seemed to be some improvement in the news on the economic front, the FDIC has closed three more Georgia banks on Friday. Georgia leads the nation this year in bank failures with a total of twenty-four. The list of failed banks includes Buckhead Community Bank and First Security National Bank, both Atlanta-based banks, and Tattnall Bank which is located in Reidsville. The FDIC helped broker the sale of the banks to other Georgia banks. Charlie Loudermilk, the founder of Aaron’s Rents, helped to start the Buckhead Community Bank was founded in 1998. Let’s hope that Georgia is not “number one” again next year.

Bobby G’s Chicago Eatery

We have another new restaurant coming to Buckhead. Bobby G’s Chicago Eatery is opening at the Lindbergh City Center near the MARTA headquarters on Piedmont Road. Bobby G’s offers a casual, authentic Chicago dining experience. Best Cookies in Buckhead

I went by Henri’s Bakery recently to pick up a dozen cookies for a client gift. As always everything was fantastic. The cookies are the best in the city. I highly recommend Henri’s which has been setting the standard for bakeries in Atlanta for over eighty years now. It is located at 61 Irby Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30305 right in the heart of Buckhead.
