This Date in Atlanta/Buckhead History
On this date in 1922 approximately five thousand people witnessed the last hanging in Atlanta history which occurred outside the Fulton County jail. In December of 1921, Mr. Frank DuPre killed a jewelry store security guard who tried to prevent him from stealing a diamond ring for his girlfriend.
In 2004, Democratic Senator Zell Miller spoke at the Republican National Convention to show his support of the re-election of President George W. Bush.
